Candice + Mike – Paramount Ranch & Malibu Beach Engagement Session

When I first saw on Facebook that Candice got engaged I secretly thought to myself “Oh I hope she calls me!” I had met Candice a few times over the  years through a mutual friend and was always impressed by her sweet and charming personality.  Well – a few weeks later Candice reached out and I couldn’t have been more excited!

We immediately began planning the engagement session which turned out to be one of my all time favorites.

Candice and Mike planned it perfectly.  How could anyone go wrong with a 6-pack of Firestone 805’s and a little “tailgating” at the park?!   We headed down to Zuma to catch the sunset and even though it was unexpectedly cold and windy, it didn’t stop us from getting out to the water for a few shots before the sunset.  We were even greeted by several playful whales just feet off the shore.  It was truly magical.

I am insanely honored and so excited to share the special time with them and can’t wait to photograph their wedding later this year.  The countdown is ON!

Congrats you two!!

xo

Gorgeous photos as always!

Molly + Harry – Santa Barbara Courthouse Elopement

There is something so sweet and special about an intimate courthouse wedding.  Molly + Harry had it all right when they invited just their immediate family to join them in Santa Barbara for their vow exchange last month.  There was so much love, laugher and (happy) crying I almost couldn’t take it!

Spending the day with these two was like hanging with really good, long time friends.  It is undeniable how much these two love each other and that made them so fun to be around.

I actually had to force myself to put my camera away in fear I would make them late for their dinner reservations!

M + H, I wish you two all the love and happiness in the world!  I can’t wait to see what is in store for your future.

Congratulations. xo

{A super special thank you to Kate from La Rousse Photography for helping me out that day. }

Los Angeles Engagement Session

Good evening!

My goodness what a day.  I am exhausted and just trying NOT to go to bed before 10 pm.  When did I get so old?  Seriously, I used to start getting ready at this time to go out at night.  It didn’t matter what day it was, I always had somewhere to be.  Fifteen years ago Wednesday nights meant JNCO jeans, shell toe Adidas and Magic Wednesdays in Hollywood.   Oh the good ole days.  Now it’s dinner, HBO and off to bed early.  Wouldn’t change it for the world though. =)

Speaking of LA I have to share a few favorites from a recent engagement session out there.  Hilary and Hallock… what a great couple.  We met a few months ago (thanks to the lovely ladies at All You Need is Love Events) and instantly clicked.  It was like happy hour with two old friends.  They are fun, carefree, laid back and so easy to be around.  I genuinely enjoyed their company.

So their engagement session….we got together one gorgeous “winter” afternoon at their home in LA.  What a darling place they have!  Seriously, I wanted to move in.  Their home is so charming and in one of my favorite neighborhoods to boot!

We jumped in the car and headed up to the Griffith Park and Observatory for some pictures.  Talk about getting nostalgic.  There is something so cozy and comforting about that view.  I could have stayed up there for hours just watching LA and all its glory.  I’m not too sure they would have camped out with me though.  They would probably miss their pup.  Besides, he was patiently waiting for our return so he could get a few photos in himself.  I’ll just have to go back for another visit.

Enjoy!

Fun facts – Personal

So I was supposed to blog this morning but instead we had an unexpected visit to the urgent care.  Nothing serious, just a minor finger breakage.  Everyone is ok now.  Myers, however, is very cranky.

But here I am, 10:41 on a Friday night, in bed watching bad TV and blogging because I had 3 too many cups of coffee this afternoon.

Two days in a row I had something fun to write and now I have complete writers block. How does that even happen?

So tonights blog post will be a few random fun facts about me because really, I can’t think of anything else at the moment.  Enjoy!

1. One of my greatest fears is vomit.  Yep, vomit.  Not just actually throwing up, but everything about it.  Someone near me doing it.  Me doing it.  Animal vomit.  Baby vomit.  You name it… it legitimately scares me.

2. I LOVE cake.  If I could pay my bills with cake, I would trade my photo services for it.  I don’t particularly care for the frosting, just the cake.  Yellow to be exact.

3. My first time horseback riding landed me in the hospital and on crutches.  No thanks!

4. One time when I worked on a ranch/winery, I was chased down and head butted by a camel.  They say she was trying to “play” with me… yah right.  I couldn’t get away and on the other side of the fence were horses.  No thanks again.

5. When I was about 4 or so years old, I slipped and hit my chin and bit a hole right through my tongue.  All the way through.

6. When I was 19 or so, I got my tongue pierced.  A few years later I let it close up then got it redone because I wasn’t quite done with that fad I suppose?

7. My very first concert was the Spice Girls and 10 years later I saw them again when they reunited.

8. When I was a kid and played with barbies, I always made them 17 years old.  I really loved that number.

9. I have never broken a bone or been in a cast.

10. If I wasn’t a photographer I would be a storm chaser or private investigator.  Or maybe a figure skater.

Kinsley + Jon – Malibu Beach Engagement

Have I mentioned that I took a few days off from ‘surfing’ social media?  Yep! 40 to be exact.  That’s right…  I gave it up for Lent!  Not that I am hardcore Catholic or anything.  I couldn’t even pass bible school because I talked too much when I was a young kid.

I kind of remember the teacher kicking my brother and I out actually.  The only thing we were really interested in was the free pizza, sodas and socializing.  Shocker right?

Well – since I am not spending all my free time Facebook and IG stalking my friends and peers I have found that I am much more focused on things like blogging or hanging out with my family.

It’s pretty neat. If I don’t see what I am “missing out” on, I don’t feel like I am missing out at all… right?  When Lent is over I plan to only browse social media outlets once a week.  We’ll see how long that lasts.  So far so good.

With that said, I have another shoot to share!  Look at me… getting all caught up!  I have tons to show from the past few months.  So since we talked about surfing I figured this adorable Malibu beach engagement shoot would fit right in with todays topic.

Kinsley + Jon.  Seriously?  Could they be any cuter?  What a fun, free-spirited and loving couple.  We had so much fun running around Malibu and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in August!  It sounds like it’s going to be a great party and I have a feeling she is going to make one heck of a beautiful bride.  Jon ain’t too shabby himself.  😉
