And we’re off!

It’s an exciting week!  I am headed off to Napa Valley to photograph my first destination wedding of the year.  This month has been one of the most insane so I am very much looking forward to a little R&R in between shooting.  What I am not looking forward to, is missing this guy and all his silliness.  myersjune2014-11

Ventura County Engagement Session

Well hello there! It’s been a while.  Embarrassing really how long it’s been since I last posted.  It’s been a crazy last few months and I have missed sharing.  I can’t tell you how many times I have sat down to post something only to get overwhelmed and frustrated.  Writing is a lot like going to the gym, it’s hard to get started but once you do you feel great.  So, here I am, taking baby steps with a quick “hello!”

I figured I would share a few shots from an engagement session I did with a lovely couple who’s wedding I am shooting NEXT WEEK in Napa!! It’s a dream come true =)

Meet Scott and Anthony.  If you have a few hours I could share some really great stories about these two but it’s getting late so that will have to be another time.  Until then, enjoy!

Kayde + Marc – Malibu Hills engagement session

Look at me on a roll with all this blog posting lately!  It’s been fun and I can’t not share these awesome sessions I’ve been doing with all my newly engaged couples.  Meet Kayde and Marc.  What a couple of cuties here.  They let me be creative and pick the location so I finally got to use this spot I have had my eye on for a while now.  It’s easily one of my new favorite places and I plan to go back real soon.  Do I dare share the name??

Thank you to Kayde and Marc for the fantastic afternoon!  I really enjoyed hanging out with you two (and the pup!) and can’t wait to see you say “i do” later this year!

adrienne + glenn – San Francisco City Hall Elopement

This post was difficult for me to write because I wanted it to be absolutely perfect.  So instead I have decided to keep it real simple and straight forward.

Adrienne – there are no words for how honored I am to have been there to document one of the most special, romantic and intimate times you and Glenn shared.  What an incredible and wild journey it has been up to this point!!

I love you both and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you two.

Thank you for trusting me to be your photographer.  I hope you cherish these images for years and years to come.

Lots of love to you and Glenn!!!!

35mm film project

As far back as I can remember I have always had a thing for cameras and taking photos. There are hundreds of negatives and 3×5 photographs at my parents house that I still go through and reminisce.  Something about film is so nostalgic and you know that I am a sucker for stuff like that.

So after attending WPPI in March, I got all inspired by some fellow photographer friends and decided to pick up a personal project to get my creative juices (re)flowing.  At the time, I was feeling kind of stagnant and uninspired and needed something fun and different to look forward to.  That’s when I borrowed a 35mm Contax from a good friend of mine and started playing around with film.

The whole process was so fun!  Loading, clicking, winding and rewinding… so so so cool.

Then! I remember that my dad had a really neat looking metal and black Canon 35mm from the 70’s.  He dug it out for me and I dusted it off and put it to use.  Of the 5 rolls and 100+ images I took, there were really only a handful I am pleased with.

I’m not going to lie, when I picked up the developed negatives and loaded the scanned files onto my computer I was a little disappointed with the outcome.  Though I suppose I shouldn’t be too hard on myself considering it was the first time in well over 10 years that I even picked up a FULLY manual camera.

Regardless, I am addicted and excited to continue to master this whole thing and can’t wait to see where this all goes.

Here are a few images from my first batch.
