A little self-love

Today I had lunch with an old friend.   We walked to the Promenade and enjoyed a panini at this cute little Euro style corner cafe.  We hadn’t seen each other since my wedding in October and we live about 8 blocks away!

While we sat and caught up on life, I  couldn’t help but notice an adorable little girl and her father peeking into the cafe at the menu posted on the wall.  The little girl was about 3 years old and wearing the cutest strawberry raincoat.  Her dad had on one of those cool hipster/grandpa sweaters and both looked very stylish.  Immediately an image of them popped into my head… just them on their bike (her in her cool kid seat on the front) riding on the boardwalk looking all Anthropologie, vintage, hazy like.

My friends would be so proud because I went right up to the dad and introduced myself and gave him my business card and told him how I was new to the area and looking to expand my clientele.  Now, some of you might not think this is a big deal, but for those that know me know that when it comes to self-promotion I pretty much am a big sissy-Mary-Lou. It took me at least 10 minutes of self pep-talking, stretching and yoga breathes to get the courage to give this guy my card!  Lame, I know… but I get nervous and embarrassed which is so strange because I am SUCH a social butterfly and have NO problem talking to strangers…. unless of course I’m promoting myself.  So we’ll see if I get a new client and if not, it’s no big deal because today we learned something and I challenged myself and I grew from that little experience.  It’s actually a big deal, I know.

And in other news, I finished the photo shoot from the other weekend.

Michelle, a wonderful client I met from Jen’s List asked me to photograph her sister’s bridal shower at the Hotel in West Hollywood.  Sophia and Bobby are set to get married at the hotel on March 5th.  He was there just before the shower and I was able to capture a few photos of the lovebirds before he had to leave.

If you’ve never been to the London Hotel, I recommend checking it out.  They have an amazing restaurant on site that would be perfect for a date night or evening out with the girls!

Absolutely gorgeous pics. Not embarrased to say the shot of the cupcakes is my fave!
